Branded BBQ Wrapping Paper
Branded BBQ wrapping paper is the sheet your sandwich, half rack or pound of chopped pork goes out in, printed with your pit's name. It takes sauce and smoke grease the way plain butcher paper does, and it hands the customer your logo with every order.

Branded BBQ wrapping paper is 40 lb pink, kraft or white butcher paper printed with a smokehouse or caterer's artwork. It comes as pre-cut sheets in four typical sizes from 12 x 12 in to 18 x 24 in. On a wrap the print faces out, so the paper against the meat is plain.

What is branded BBQ wrapping paper?
Branded BBQ wrapping paper is a pre-cut sheet of butcher paper printed with your pit's name, mark or pattern. It is cut to sandwich and rib sizes rather than brisket sizes, and that is the difference from a smoking sheet.
Smokehouses hand a chopped brisket sandwich over the counter in it. BBQ caterers line a tray with it and lay sliced meat on top. Food trucks wrap a pulled pork sandwich in it and fold the ends under so it rides in a bag.
The photo shows a dark flood of ink with the art reversed out in a light line. That look is one ink color printed heavy over white stock, and it counts as a one-color job on the quote.
Which size wraps a chopped brisket sandwich?
A sandwich on a 4 in bun needs a 12 x 12 in sheet to close. Bigger items need more paper. The four typical sizes below cover the counter; anything else is a custom cut on the quote.
| Typical size | Wraps | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 12 x 12 in | Sliders, a sausage on a bun, a chopped sandwich | Two folds and a tuck; the logo lands on the tuck |
| 15 x 15 in | A loaded sandwich, a half pound of pulled pork | Enough paper to fold a sealed packet |
| 18 x 18 in | A half rack of spares, two sandwiches side by side | A square sheet folds evenly on all four sides |
| 18 x 24 in | A full rack of baby backs, a lined catering tray | The size for a tray liner with overhang |
Buy 15 x 15 in if you are not sure. It wraps everything short of a rack and does not leave a sandwich swimming in paper.
How does the sheet handle sauce, grease and steam?
Uncoated pink and kraft breathe. Steam from a hot sandwich passes through, so the bun does not go soggy inside the wrap the way it does in foil. Sauce soaks in and shows as a dark patch, which is normal.
Rendered fat spreads slowly through 40 lb stock. A sandwich wrapped for ten minutes stays dry on the outside; a half rack that sits for an hour will show grease on the outer face. For long holds, double wrap or use a tray.
The inks are food-safe soy and water-based and dry into the paper, so a tray liner can carry food on its printed face. Hot sauce on the outside of a wrap does not lift them.
Which stock suits a BBQ brand?
Pink is the paper most pits already use, so a printed pink sheet looks like the rest of the shop. Dark inks on pink read well: black, dark brown and a deep red all work. Keep it to one color. The pink butcher paper color page covers the stock in detail.
Kraft reads rustic and hides grease better than pink or white. One dark ink on kraft is the safe choice; a light ink on kraft fades into the brown.
White is the stock for a full-color logo, since Pantone solid-coated matches print as drawn on it. White also takes a heavy flood of dark ink, which is how the black sheet in the photo was made. Our white sheets for this product are uncoated.
Where should the logo land on a wrap that gets folded?
A wrap is folded twice and tucked, so a single centered logo ends up on the underside half the time. A repeat at 5 in spacing shows on the top of the packet no matter how the fold lands.
If you want one big mark, print it in the center of a square sheet and train the crew to fold with the logo up. That works for a 12 x 12 in sheet and a quick two-fold wrap. It fails on an 18 x 24 in sheet with more folds.
A repeat needs no bleed. A centered logo needs a quarter inch of clear space from the edge so the cut never clips it.
What artwork do you need for a branded sheet?
- Your logo as a vector file: AI, PDF or SVG, text outlined
- A 300 dpi PNG at print size if no vector exists
- The Pantone solid-coated number for each ink, up to four
- Which sheet size, and repeat or single logo
- Whether the art is printed as a flood with the logo reversed out
If you only have a sketch of the pattern, send it; the free proof shows how it reads on paper. Design Your Branded BBQ Wrapping Paper shows the layout on a sheet before you ask for that proof.
Caterers, trucks and game day orders
A BBQ caterer serving 200 plates lines each tray with a printed 18 x 24 in sheet, then sets the meat on top. The sheet soaks up the drip, and the logo faces the line of guests.
Food trucks use the 12 x 12 in and 15 x 15 in sheets. A wrapped sandwich goes into a kraft bag, and the printed sheet is what the customer sees when the bag opens. That is the whole point of paying for print.
Tailgates, Memorial Day and Fourth of July pop-up stands go through more paper than a normal week. Order the extra sheets on the same quote; the minimum is 1,000 sheets, and a second size on the same art is simple to add.
Mistakes to avoid with printed BBQ sheets
- Ordering 12 x 12 in for a half rack; it will not meet in the middle
- Running a four-color photo logo on pink; it goes dark and flat
- Placing a single logo on a sheet the crew folds three ways
- Printing a phone number so small it fills in on kraft
- Using a glossy web image instead of the vector logo
- Skipping a test wrap in plain paper before choosing the size
Wrap one of everything on the menu in plain paper first. The sizes that work are the sizes to print.

Branded BBQ Wrapping Paper questions
Answered by the people who quote, proof and ship it.
Which size of branded BBQ wrapping paper closes around a brisket sandwich?
A 12 x 12 in sheet closes around a sandwich on a 4 in bun. Go to 15 x 15 in for a loaded sandwich or a half pound of chopped meat.
Does branded BBQ wrapping paper come in pink?
Yes. Pink is the stock most pits choose because it matches the paper they already smoke with. Dark inks read well on it.
Can the branded sheet be printed black with my logo reversed out?
Yes. A heavy flood of one dark ink on white stock gives a black sheet, and the logo shows in the white of the paper. It counts as a one-color job.
Will sauce on the outside of a branded BBQ sheet smear the print?
No. Soy and water-based inks dry into the paper, so sauce wipes off a dry print without lifting it.
Should my pit logo be a repeat or one big mark on the wrap?
A repeat at 5 in spacing is safer, because a folded wrap hides a centered logo half the time. One big mark works only on a square sheet with a simple two-fold.
How many branded BBQ wrapping sheets do I have to order?
The minimum is 1,000 sheets of one size. Extra sizes with the same artwork can go on the same quote.
Can a BBQ caterer use branded wrapping paper as a tray liner?
Yes. The 18 x 24 in sheet lines a catering tray with overhang, and the meat sits on the printed face so guests see the logo.
How long does a wrapped half rack stay dry in branded BBQ paper?
About an hour before grease shows on the outer face. For longer holds, double wrap or set the rack on a lined tray.
Is 18 x 18 in branded BBQ wrapping paper square for a reason?
Yes. A square sheet folds evenly on all four sides, which makes a neat packet around a half rack or two sandwiches.
Can I add Memorial Day or game day artwork to my branded BBQ sheets?
You can, as a separate design on the same stock. Each design gets its own proof and its own 1,000 sheet minimum.
What happens to bark when ribs are wrapped in branded BBQ paper?
It softens a little but stays set, because uncoated pink and kraft let steam out. Foil would steam it loose.
Does branded BBQ wrapping paper ship with the sheets flat or folded?
Flat, in cartons, so the print has no crease across it. The shipping and packing details explain how cartons are packed.
