A pink butcher paper roll is 40 lb uncoated kraft paper dyed pink, wound on a core that fits a counter dispenser. Pitmasters wrap brisket and ribs in it at the stall because it breathes where foil steams. Butcher counters use the same roll for wrapping cuts to go.

What buyers usually add to the same ticket.
What a pink butcher paper roll is for
Pink butcher paper is the same 40 lb sheet as white, left uncoated and dyed a soft pink. On the roll it goes by two names, pink or peach, and both mean this paper.
Smokehouses buy it by the roll for the wrap stage. Brisket, pork butt and spare ribs come off the pit at the stall, get wrapped in two layers and go back on to finish.
Meat markets run the same roll on the counter. Ground beef, chops and whole chickens go out wrapped in pink because grease marks barely show on it and the paper does not sweat.
BBQ caterers and food trucks keep a roll on the truck for tray lining and for wrapping sandwiches to go.
Jerky and sausage makers line drying trays with it because it wicks without sticking.
How pink paper behaves on the pit
The sheet is porous. Steam from the meat passes through, so the bark stays firm instead of going soft the way it does under foil.
Smoke keeps moving through the paper too. A brisket wrapped at 165°F still picks up color for the last three hours.
Rendered fat soaks into the first layer and darkens it. That is normal and is why the second layer matters; it stops the drip reaching the pit floor.
Pink paper has no wax or poly, so it goes into a 275°F smoker without anything melting. The paper browns a little at the edges and that is all.
Moisture is the other half. The paper absorbs the surface wet, so the bark dries slightly during the wrap instead of stewing. Pull a foil-wrapped brisket and a paper-wrapped one side by side and the difference is in the first slice.
What width wraps a packer brisket?
Width is the first choice. A 12 to 14 lb packer needs a sheet long enough to go around twice, so 24 in wide paper cut at about 36 in is the usual pick. A trimmed flat fits an 18 in wide sheet cut at 24 in.
| Roll size | Best for | Cuts per roll at the usual length |
|---|---|---|
| 18 in x 1,000 ft | Flats, rib racks, counter wrap | About 500 cuts at 24 in |
| 24 in x 1,000 ft | Packers, pork butt, two racks side by side | About 333 cuts at 36 in |
| 24 in x 700 ft | Same width, lighter roll for a small pit | About 233 cuts at 36 in |
| 36 in x 1,000 ft | Whole packers with margin, table lining | About 250 cuts at 48 in |
If you only buy one width, buy 24 in. It wraps everything on a normal pit and still works on a counter. Any other width is a custom cut; ask on the quote.
How do you wrap a brisket in pink butcher paper?
Two layers, pulled tight, seam down. That is the whole method and it works for pork butt and ribs the same way.
- Tear two sheets from the roll, each about 36 in, and lay them on the counter overlapping by half.
- Set the brisket fat side up near one short edge, point end toward you.
- Fold the near edge over the meat, then fold both sides in tight against the flat.
- Roll the brisket away from you so the paper wraps twice around it.
- Put it back on the pit seam side down so the weight of the meat holds the fold.
Pull the paper tight at every fold. A loose wrap traps a pocket of steam and the bark under that pocket goes soft.
Pink, peach, or one of the other colors?
Peach paper and pink butcher paper are the same roll. Some suppliers say peach, some say pink, and the shade varies a little between batches, so expect a small tint shift from one roll to the next.
White paper is the same sheet bleached. It works for wrapping but shows every grease spot, which is why pits settle on pink. Brown kraft wraps fine too and prints a logo well, but it looks more like a deli than a smokehouse.
The pink butcher paper color page lists every pink product we cut, sheets included.
Printing a logo on a pink roll
Pink takes one dark color best. Black, deep brown or a dark red reads clearly on the tint; pale inks and metallic looks disappear into it.
A repeat pattern of your logo every 6 to 8 in means the mark shows no matter where the cut lands or how the wrap folds. A single large logo per sheet only works on pre-cut sheets where you control the placement.
Send vector artwork if you have it. A PNG at 300 dpi works for a simple mark. We set up a free proof and keep editing it until you sign off, and nothing prints before that.
Inks are soy and water-based and made for food contact, so a printed wrap goes on the pit the same as a plain one.
Does the roll fit a counter dispenser?
Yes. The core is the standard size, so an 18 in or 24 in roll drops into the dispenser already on your counter. The serrated blade tears the sheet in one pull, so there is no knife on the line.
A 1,000 ft roll cut at 24 in gives about 500 sheets. Cut at 36 in for packers, the same roll gives about 333. Width does not change the count; only the length of the cut does.
The 700 ft roll is lighter and spins more freely in a light dispenser. Pick it when one person loads the roll alone.
We can pack the roll in a dispenser carton with its own serrated tear strip. Say so on the quote and the carton becomes the dispenser.
One roll of 24 in x 1,000 ft covers a typical weekend pit of twenty packers with room left over for the counter.
Mistakes to avoid with pink roll paper
- Wrapping too early. Wait for the bark to set, usually around 160°F to 170°F internal, or the paper will pull it off.
- One layer only. Fat soaks through a single sheet in an hour.
- Buying 18 in for packers. The sheet is too narrow to tuck the sides and the ends stay open.
- Storing the roll next to the pit. Heat and grease dry the paper and it tears on the blade.
- Printing a pale ink. On pink it vanishes; keep to one dark color.
- Guessing the width. Measure your biggest cut, add 8 in, and order that.

Pink Butcher Paper Rolls questions
Answered by the people who quote, proof and ship it.
Does a pink butcher paper roll have any wax or poly coating?
No. Pink is uncoated on both sides, so steam passes through it on the pit and nothing melts at smoker temperatures.
How many brisket wraps come off an 18 in x 1,000 ft pink roll?
About 500 if you cut at 24 in, which suits a flat. Cut at 36 in for a packer and the count drops to about 333.
Can I put pink roll paper in a smoker running at 275°F?
Yes. The paper has nothing to melt and only browns a little at the edges. It wraps brisket, ribs and pork butt right through the finish.
Will the print on a pink roll rub off on a brisket?
No. The inks are soy and water-based, made for food contact, and they stay on the paper under heat and fat.
Why does the pink roll sometimes get called peach paper?
It is the same product under two trade names. The tint sits between pink and peach and can shift slightly between batches.
Which pink roll width wraps a full rack of spare ribs?
18 in wide, cut at about 30 in, wraps a full rack with the ends tucked. For two racks side by side go to 24 in.
Does the pink roll core fit a standard counter dispenser?
Yes. It is the standard core size, so the 18 in and 24 in rolls sit in a normal counter dispenser with a serrated blade.
Is the 24 in x 700 ft pink roll easier to handle than the 1,000 ft roll?
Yes, it is lighter and loads with one hand. It gives about 233 cuts at 36 in instead of about 333.
Can one order mix plain and printed pink rolls?
Yes. Quote them as two lines. The printed rolls wait for proof approval; the plain rolls go into production when the quote is accepted.
How is a pink butcher paper roll packed for delivery?
Each roll ships in its own carton with the ends protected. Ask for a dispenser carton with a serrated tear strip if you want to tear sheets straight from the box.
Does pink roll paper hold up to a wet pork butt wrap?
Yes, with two layers. The first layer takes the rendered fat and the second keeps the wrap intact to the pull.
What artwork do you need to print a logo on a pink roll?
A vector file is best, or a 300 dpi PNG for a simple mark. We build the free proof from it and edit until you approve; the logo printing guide covers file prep.
