Custom printed butcher paper is 40 lb kraft, white or pink butcher paper with your artwork printed on the outside face. It comes as pre-cut sheets in four typical sizes or as rolls, printed in one to four soy and water-based inks. The paper wraps and folds like plain stock; only the look changes.

What is custom printed butcher paper?

Custom printed butcher paper is ordinary 40 lb butcher paper with your own artwork printed across it. We run it on brown kraft, white or pink stock, then cut it to sheets or wind it onto rolls.

BBQ joints wrap brisket by the pound in it and line trays with it. Burger counters fold it around a sandwich so the bag opens on a logo. Butcher shops and delis pull it off a counter roll under every cut.

The stock is the same as our plain sheets, so the wrap, the fold and the tear feel exactly as your crew expects. Only the face of the paper changes.

Which sheet size fits what you serve?

Four typical sizes cover most printed sheet orders. The table shows what each one wraps and how the print lands on it. Any other size is a custom cut; write it on the quote and we cut to it.

Typical sizeWhat it wrapsHow the print lands
12 x 12 inSliders, tacos, a single hot linkA 3 in repeat shows about sixteen marks
15 x 15 inBurgers, half sandwiches, basket linersRepeat pattern, or one logo dead center
18 x 24 inSubs, half racks, deli ordersA 5 in repeat sits evenly across the fold
24 x 36 inPacker brisket, whole chickens, tray coversRepeat only; a single logo disappears in the wrap

If you order one size, make it 18 x 24 in. It closes around a sub, lines a basket and folds over a half rack with no seam.

How does the print hold up against hot meat?

Soy and water-based inks dry down into the fiber instead of sitting on top as a film. A brisket coming off the pit does not lift a dry print, and rendered fat does not smear it.

The paper itself acts like plain stock. Uncoated kraft and pink let steam escape, so the bark stays firm through a rest. Grease darkens the sheet where the meat sits, and on kraft that patch hardly shows.

We print the outside face only. The inside face against the food stays blank, which is the standard way a printed food wrap is run.

Repeat pattern or a single centered logo?

A repeat pattern tiles your logo or icons across the sheet at a fixed spacing. We usually set the gap at 3 in or 5 in between marks. Tight spacing suits small icons; a 5 in gap suits a wordmark that is 2 in wide.

A single centered logo works on a sheet served flat, such as a tray liner or a basket sheet. Once that sheet is wrapped around a burger, the logo ends up under the fold. A repeat shows wherever the wrap lands.

Repeats need no bleed. The pattern runs off every edge, and the cut can drift an eighth of an inch without anyone noticing. A single logo near an edge needs a quarter inch of clearance.

Our opinion: a one-color repeat on kraft is the print that looks right on the most sheets.

Kraft, white or pink: which stock takes the print?

Brown kraft takes one dark ink well: black, deep brown, navy or a brick red. Light inks on kraft go muddy because the brown shows through them. Print one color on kraft; a second rarely earns its cost.

White stock shows every color as drawn, so Pantone solid-coated matches hold true on it. If your logo is a specific orange or teal, white is the stock to print it on. The white we use for printed sheets is uncoated.

Pink prints much like kraft. Dark inks sit well on it, and the peach tone warms a black mark. Smokehouses that already wrap in pink often add a print to the same paper rather than switching stock. The brown kraft butcher paper page covers the kraft stock on its own.

What artwork files should you send?

Send vector files when you have them: AI, PDF or SVG. Vector art scales to any sheet size and prints with clean edges on a 3 in or a 5 in repeat.

If all you have is a PNG, send it at 300 dpi at the size it will print. A 72 dpi web logo looks soft once it is blown up to 4 in across. Convert text to outlines, or send the font with the file.

  • A vector logo (AI, PDF or SVG) with text outlined
  • Pantone solid-coated numbers for each ink, or a note to match the PNG
  • The sheet size, and whether you want a repeat or one logo
  • The spacing you prefer, or leave it to us at 3 in or 5 in
  • Any extra copy, such as a phone number or a social handle, as plain text

No art yet? Design Your Butcher Paper online lays a logo out on a sheet so you see the spacing before the proof.

Are the inks fine next to food?

We print with food-safe soy and water-based inks in one to four colors. They carry no solvent smell, which matters when a hot sandwich sits in its wrap for twenty minutes.

One color is the cleanest print and the cheapest to run. Two colors give a logo plus an accent. Four colors cover a full-color design on white stock. Each extra color is another pass, so the quote reflects the count.

Pantone solid-coated is the reference for every match. Kraft pulls every ink a shade darker, so pick a Pantone one step lighter than the shade you want to see on the sheet.

Mistakes to avoid on a first printed run

  • Printing fine lines under a quarter inch; they fill in on kraft
  • Ordering 12 x 12 in for a full sandwich; it will not close
  • Choosing a pale ink on brown kraft and expecting it to read
  • Sending a screenshot of the logo instead of the original file
  • Guessing the sheet size instead of wrapping a test item in plain paper first
  • Putting a date or a seasonal line on paper you will use all year

The proof catches most of these. Reading the list first still saves a round of edits.

How does a custom printed order run?

The minimum is 1,000 sheets or 1 roll. Cut sheets start from $0.30 a sheet, and the written quote with the exact figure arrives within one business day.

  1. Ask for a quote with the stock, sheet size, color count and quantity.
  2. Send your artwork. We build a free proof and edit it until you sign off.
  3. Approve the proof. Printing and cutting take 4 to 6 business days from that approval.
  4. We ship with free tracked delivery to any US address in 2 to 3 business days.
  5. Open the carton on arrival. Report a misprint or damage within 10 days, with photos, for a reprint or refund.

Printed rolls instead of sheets

The same artwork goes onto a roll. Rolls are priced by the roll on the written quote and come in the widths of our plain roll range; 18, 24 and 36 in are the usual picks.

A printed roll sits in a standard counter dispenser because the core is the same. A repeat pattern is the only sensible layout for a roll, since the tear point moves with every pull and a single logo would land anywhere.

Counters that tear paper all day are better served by printed meat counter paper rolls, which are set up for exactly that.

Custom Printed Butcher Paper questions

Answered by the people who quote, proof and ship it.

What spacing do you use for a repeat logo on custom printed butcher paper?

Most repeats run at 3 in or 5 in between marks. Small icons look right at 3 in; a wordmark 2 in wide reads better at 5 in. Tell us a spacing on the quote if you have one in mind.

Can custom printed butcher paper be printed in just one color on kraft?

Yes, and one color is what we suggest for kraft. A dark ink such as black, navy or brick red reads cleanly on brown; pale inks sink into the stock.

Does custom printed butcher paper come in pink as well as kraft and white?

It does. Pink stock takes dark inks much like kraft, so a smokehouse can keep its pink wrap and add a logo to it.

Will the ink on custom printed butcher paper rub off onto hot brisket?

No. The print is on the outside face only, and the soy and water-based inks dry into the fiber. The face touching the meat is blank paper.

Do I need bleed on artwork for a repeat pattern?

No bleed is needed for a repeat. The pattern runs off every edge of the sheet on its own, so a small drift in the cut never shows.

What file type prints best for a logo on custom printed butcher paper?

A vector file: AI, PDF or SVG with text outlined. A 300 dpi PNG at print size works as a fallback, but a web-sized PNG prints soft.

How many ink colors can go on custom printed butcher paper?

One to four. One color suits kraft and pink; two to four colors make sense on white, where Pantone solid-coated matches show as drawn.

Is custom printed butcher paper the same weight as the plain sheets?

Yes. It is the same 40 lb stock in kraft, white or pink, so it wraps, folds and tears exactly like the plain paper you use now.

Can I print a different design on each sheet size in one order?

You can. Each size and design is quoted and proofed as its own job. Put every combination on one quote request and we price each line.

Which side of custom printed butcher paper carries the print?

The outside face. The inner face that meets the food is left blank, which is how a printed food wrap is normally run.

Can custom printed butcher paper be supplied on a roll instead of sheets?

Yes. Printed rolls use a repeat pattern and are priced by the roll on the written quote. Widths of 18, 24 and 36 in are the usual picks.

What happens if my custom printed sheets arrive with a misprint?

Report it within 10 days with photos and we reprint or refund the job. The returns and reprints page lists what is covered.
