What counts as printed butcher paper?

Printed butcher paper is 40 lb kraft, white or pink butcher paper with artwork printed on it in one to four soy and water-based inks. It wraps, folds and breathes like the plain version of the same stock.

The four products in this range differ by format, not by paper. Sheets are cut to size, rolls fit a dispenser, and bags are formed and glued. Pick the format that matches how your counter hands food over.

A printed sheet costs a little more than a plain one and does a job a plain one cannot: it sends your name home in the bag. That is the whole case for print, and it is a strong one for a shop that sells by the pound.

Not sure where to start? Begin with custom printed butcher paper sheets, the broadest of the four, and narrow down from there.

Which stock should you print on?

Kraft takes one dark ink and hides grease. White takes Pantone solid-coated matches in up to four colors. Pink is for pits that want the paper they smoke with to carry a mark.

An opinion: most food businesses are best served by one color on kraft. It is the cheapest print to run, it never looks muddy, and grease marks disappear into the brown.

The exception is a logo built on a specific color. A teal, an orange or a bright red belongs on white, where the ink shows as drawn. The branded BBQ wrapping paper sheets page shows what a heavy dark flood on white looks like.

Repeat pattern or single logo on printed paper?

Sheets that get wrapped and rolls that get torn need a repeat, set at 3 in or 5 in spacing, so a whole mark shows wherever the fold or tear lands. Bags have a fixed front panel, so a single centered logo works there.

A repeat needs no bleed, because the pattern runs off every edge on its own. A single logo needs clearance from edges and seams. Both are laid out on the free proof, and you can ask to see each before choosing.

On a counter roll the point matters most. Every tear lands at a different spot, which is why printed meat counter paper rolls are only ever run as a repeat.

Artwork and inks for printed butcher paper

  • Vector files (AI, PDF, SVG) print sharpest; a 300 dpi PNG at print size is the fallback
  • One to four colors: one on kraft, up to four on white
  • Pantone solid-coated numbers for any color that has to match a sign or a label
  • Soy and water-based inks on every job, so a printed face can touch food
  • Text outlined, or the font sent with the file
  • No bleed on a repeat; a quarter inch of clearance on a single logo

Send what you have, even a sketch. The proof is free, edits are unlimited, and nothing prints until you approve it.

Who buys which printed paper?

Smokehouses and BBQ caterers buy branded BBQ wrapping sheets for sandwiches and lined trays, and custom printed sheets in 24 x 36 in for whole briskets.

Butcher shops and meat markets buy printed counter rolls, because the roll already sits in their dispenser and the print changes nothing about how they wrap.

Jerky and sausage brands buy bags: flat for jerky, gusseted for links. Delis and sandwich counters often take both a roll and a bag, so the wrap and the carry match. The printed butcher paper bags page sorts flat from gusseted.

How does a printed butcher paper order run?

Sheets are from $0.30 a sheet, bags from $0.30 a bag, and rolls are priced by the roll. Every job gets a written quote within one business day with the exact figure for your size, stock and ink count.

  1. Pick the format and the stock color, then ask for a quote with sizes and quantities.
  2. Send artwork. A free proof comes back, and you edit it as many times as you need.
  3. Approve the proof. The job runs in 4 to 6 business days.
  4. Free tracked delivery reaches any US address in 2 to 3 business days.
  5. Report any misprint or damage within 10 days with photos for a reprint or a refund.

The minimum is 1,000 sheets, 1,000 bags or 1 roll. The printed butcher paper quote form takes artwork and sizes in one go.

Printed Butcher Paper questions

Which printed butcher paper product should a food truck start with?

Custom printed sheets in 12 x 12 in or 15 x 15 in. They wrap a sandwich, drop into a bag, and open on your logo at the table.

Can every product in the printed butcher paper range be ordered in kraft?

Yes. Sheets, BBQ wraps, counter rolls and bags all come in brown kraft, and kraft is the stock we suggest for a one-color print.

Is printed butcher paper the same thickness as plain butcher paper?

It is. Every printed product uses the same 40 lb stock as the plain rolls and sheets; only the face changes.

Do printed butcher paper sheets and rolls use the same inks?

Yes. All four printed products run on food-safe soy and water-based inks, one to four colors, with Pantone solid-coated matches.

Can I split one printed butcher paper order between sheets and a roll?

You can. Each format is quoted as its own line with its own minimum, and the same artwork can go on both.

Why does a printed roll need a repeat when a bag does not?

A roll is torn at a different point every time, so only a repeat shows a whole mark on each piece. A bag has a fixed front panel where one logo always sits in the same place.

Which printed butcher paper product hides grease best?

Any of them in brown kraft. Grease shows as a dark patch on white and pink but hardly registers on kraft.

Does printed butcher paper need a different dispenser from plain rolls?

No. Printed rolls wind on the same standard core, so they drop into the counter dispenser you already have.

What is the fastest way to get a price on printed butcher paper?

Send the quote form with format, size, stock, ink count and quantity. The written price comes back within one business day.

Can the four printed butcher paper products share one piece of artwork?

Yes. One vector logo can be laid out as a repeat on sheets and rolls and as a centered mark on bags, each on its own proof.
